In September 2024, the new Phonak Infinio Hearing Range will be able to be purchased in the UK.
In this series of posts, Sound Hearing will write about the new technology and features in Phonak Infinio Hearing Aids.
But first—why the hype? If you are looking for a new hearing aid online or have visited an audiologist recently, it is likely you will have seen an advert for the New Phonak Infinio Audeo, Phonak Sphere Audeo, and Phonak Virto Infinio hearing aids.
They have been available in the US for around one month, and stock levels are running low; audiologists claim some colours and technology levels are currently unavailable.
Whenever a hearing aid manufacturer releases a new range of devices, the marketing departments create hype by producing material telling consumers and professionals that this new hearing aid is game-changing, ground-breaking, and revolutionary. Manufacturers often indulge industry influencers in all-expense paid trips to their headquarters and give them samples of new products so they can produce social media content to help build the launch hype. Hearing Aid influencers do exist! If in doubt, check the links below.
One of the most persuasive sales techniques is the scarcity principle—buy now, only a few are left—tickets are selling fast. This creates a feeling of missing out and can lead to an impulsive, rushed purchase. Look at the hype the Oasis reunion (top-up pension) tour has created. The announcement of the tour made headlines in many newspapers. Tickets sold out quickly; people rushed to buy tickets, paying exorbitant prices – Fear of missing out. After this impulsive purchase, people seem to be experiencing a new feeling – buyer’s remorse.

When new products are released, there are often stock issues as manufacturers want to get their products to market as quickly as possible, and manufacturing capacity may still be developing.
Hearing aids are not the same as a concert where there is only a limited number of tickets; while there may be some delays in the first few weeks of a product launch, as the hype dissipates and production increases, you will soon be able to get any style, colour and technology level within a few days.
In our coming articles, we will examine the styles Phonak Infinio has released and the new technology Phonak has developed. Could there be some justification for the hype?
