Insio IX are custom-made hearing aids designed for users who prefer to use disposable batteries for a 4-6 battery life. There is no need to charge your hearing aids every day. These hearing aids contain all the technology of single-microphone IX hearing aids.
Overview of Signia IX Hearing Aid Technology
Not all Signia IX hearing aids utilise the same technology. The type of technology depends on whether the hearing aid is equipped with one or two microphones. Smaller custom hearing aids typically have only one microphone, which means that different technology is employed to enhance the speech-to-noise ratio for better speech comprehension in noisy environments.
Signia IX Technology IX for Twin microphone Pure IX, Styletto IX, Motion IX and Active Pro IX
IX Technology uses Augmented Focus with a Dual Chip Architecture to provide Signia’s best speech understanding in background noise. One chip is dedicated to identifying and enhancing speech, while the other focuses on background noise management. These two distinct sound streams are then recombined in real-time to create a clear contrast, making speech clear and background sounds more subdued but still audible.
RealTime Conversation Enhancement technology (RTCE) uses AI-driven multi-beam technology to track and enhance the speech of multiple moving speakers in dynamic and complex noisy situations. It works in 3 steps:
- Analyse – Every second, Signia Pure IX examines 192,000 pieces of data to identify who is speaking.
- Augment – It then fine-tunes the sound, focusing on and following each speaker’s voice while minimising background noise.
- Adapt – Signia’s unique Multi-Stream Architecture updates 1,000 times per second, blending sounds from different sources to adapt to real-time conversation changes.
In summary, RealTime conversation enhancement can identify what is speech and what is noise from any direction. If it detects speech, it will increase the speech volume, and if it detects noise, it will decrease it. Combined with the motion sensor, the hearing aids can track and maintain amplification of the speech if the talker moves or the hearing aid user turns their head. Also, as the speaker moves and the area they have moved from is now just background noise, the hearing will detect this and reduce the noise. As far as the human brain can detect, this all happens in Real-time.

Own Voice Processing (OVP) 2.0 automatically detects and reduces the wearer’s own voice, ensuring it sounds natural and undistorted. This reduces the “boomy” or overly amplified effect that some hearing aid users experience.
Dynamic Soundscape Processing 3.0 (DSP) manages all the inputs from RTCE, OVP 2.0, motion sensors and noise detection to create precise hearing aid optimisation for hearing clear speech understanding in a noisy environment.

Signia IX technology for Single microphone Silk IX, Insio IX and Insio Charge Go IX
Hearing aids with two microphones (i.e., two microphones per hearing aid) improve the speech signal in noise (directionality) through beamforming techniques that use the physical distance between the two microphones to create directional beams that can be trained to amplify speech from one direction while suppressing other sounds from other directions. However, traditional directionality has not been possible in smaller hearing aids, such as Completely-in-Canal (CIC) models, as their ultra-compact design only allows for one microphone.
Signia has been a leader in hearing aid innovation, particularly in directionality and binaural beamforming, which is based on binaural signal processing, where audio signals are transmitted between the left and right hearing aids.
Binaural OneMic Directionality (BOMD) is a new technology that overcomes the constraints of single microphones by using advanced binaural processing to create a virtual directional microphone system from two single-microphone hearing aids. Signia’s BOMD technology is, at the time of writing, unique in the hearing aid industry.
