Founded in 1967, Starkey is America’s largest hearing aid manufacturer. Starkey has a worldwide presence, and in the UK, their factory is based in Stockport, where the Starkey Livio AI is manufactured. Starkey has established a Hearing Foundation where their volunteers have fitted over 1 million hearing aids to those in need across the globe.
Starkey Livio AI Technology
The Starkey Livio Edge AI range operates on Starkey’s Thrive platform. The Thrive platform integrates Hearing Performance, Healthable technology and Information Assistance.
Livio Edge AI are the first aid with artificial intelligence built into the hearing aid system.
Hearing Reality Pro analyses and understands the listening environment and then uses binaural signal processing and adaptive microphone directionality to adjust the hearing aid to give the best possible hearing in any listening environment.
Starkey Livio Edge AI’s new Edge Mode is where artificial intelligence is utilised in challenging listening situations. Edge mode is an on-demand program that gives real-time increased comfort and clarity in complex listening environments.
The hearing aids have a dedicated adjustable music compressor for an enhanced and enjoyable music-listening experience.
Starkey Livio Edge AI is also the first hearing aid with voice-activated commands. This means you can change the hearing aid programme by simply speaking.
The updated Thrive AI App introduces Thrive Care, allowing carers and family members to monitor the users hearing aid use and health. Thrive care includes fall alert and brain and body tracking.
Starkey Livio Edge AI introduces the first Lithium-ion rechargeable custom in-the-ear (ITC, ITE) hearing aid. A wireless device that allows for audio streaming – the battery will last a full day with up to 4 hours of streaming. The built-in motion sensors enable the device to turn off when taken off automatically, and they will automatically turn when placed back in the ears.
The hearing aids Healthable technology enables the hearing aid to detect if a user has had a fall and then alert a caregiver. It also tracks brain health and monitors heart rate.
Starkey Livio Edge can be controlled and adjusted through the Thrive app, which allows users to fine-tune their hearing aids and also allows for remote hearing care.
The integrated Information Assistance enables the hearing aids to self-check and diagnose problems. The Thrive App assistant empowers users to send questions to their audiologist and allows Remote Hearing Care.
Starkey has released the Livio AI option in 5 technology levels, the best being the Livio Edge AI and then Livio AI 2000, 1600,1200 and 1000. Full features and a comparison can be found on our product pages.
The Starkey Livio has made for iPhone (MFI) technology and will also pair and stream to phones running the newest Android software.
The Starkey Livio rechargeable charger has a built-in battery so that you can charge on the go. A turbocharger with an integrated battery is also available.

Starkey Livio AI Rechargeable Options
Two charger types are available for Livio AI: the Standard Charger and the Mini Turbo Charger. The Standard Charger on the left is a portable plug-in charger with Livio AI RIC R, and BTE R. The Mini Turbo Charger is a pocket-sized charger that can be used with Livio AI RIC R.

Starkey Livio – mobiles and Thrive app
The Starkey Livio has made for iPhone (MFI) technology and will pair and stream to phones running the newest Android software.
The Thrive Hearing Control app gives users complete control over their hearing aids using their smartphones. The app allows users to adjust volume, switch memories, and fine-tune their hearing aids.
The Thrive app also contains assistive features –Â Find My Phone, Translate, Transcribe and Self Check, which lets you check your hearing aid performance without an office visit.
Starkey Livio AI Accessories
Several accessories are also available with Starkey Livio:
Starkey TV Streamer – Plugs into your TV and will stream stereo sound direct to your hearing aids.
Remote Microphone allows users to enjoy one-on-one conversations in noisy environments and stream binaurally from four different audio sources: Bluetooth, Telecoil, FM or Line-In.
Mini Remote Microphone – Allows users to enjoy one-on-one conversations in noisy environments with the small, easy-to-use Mini Remote Microphone.
Starkey Remote – A pocket-sized remote control allowing the user to change hearing aid volume or programs.
Table Microphone – This device improves users hearing in group settings like family gatherings or noisy restaurants. Eight built-in microphones detect the primary speaker‚voice and stream it directly to their hearing aids.
Starkey’s new hearing aids will pair via Bluetooth to Orcam. Orcam is a device that visually impaired users use. It uses facial recognition allowing the user knows who is talking. Orcam can also read and turn text into audio which is then processed and delivered to the hearing aids.
