Phonak is one the largest hearing aid manufacturers in the world. They are based in Switzerland and are part of the Sonova Group, which includes Unitron.
Phonak is known for its innovative hearing aids. Founded in 1947 in Switzerland, it became the leading innovator in analogue hearing aids. In 1985, after purchasing multiple additional hearing aid companies, it became Phonak Holding AG and the world’s leading provider of digital hearing aids. 2007, it changed its name to Sonova Holding—or Sonova Group.

Phonak Sphere Audéo Infinio New Technology
The new ERA Chip allows for four key new features:
- APD 3.0 – a new fitting prescription that uses the latest research and ERA processing speed to give the user the correct gain at each hearing loss frequency.
- AutoSense 6.0—Trained with artificial intelligence, Autosense is software that automatically changes the hearing aid’s programmes and settings. As a hearing aid user moves into different listening environments, Autosense automatically loads the best programme, changes the volume, and adjusts the hearing device’s advanced features.
- Enhanced Bluetooth – Universal connectivity and 2-way streaming to any Bluetooth devices, including phones, tablets and laptops. Phonak Infinio hearing aids will pair up to 8 and 2 Bluetooth devices simultaneously. The new ERA chip allows for increased Bluetooth transmission power, allowing users to maintain a high-quality signal over twice the distance of the previous Phonak Bluetooth.
- Auracst Ready – Auracast™ broadcast will enable devices such as smartphones, laptops, televisions, or public address systems to broadcast audio to an unlimited number of nearby compatible receivers, including hearing aids, speakers and earbuds.
The new DEEPSONIC chip enables the new Spheric Speech Clarity system to operate. Phonak Sphere Infinio hearing aids are Phonak’s first hearing aids that can fully exploit the power of Artificial intelligence (AI) to separate speech from Noise. They have been trained using 22 million sound samples using a Deep Neural Network (DNN), and the Spheric Speech Clarity system can use these learnings to identify and remove unwanted noise from the speech signal, resulting in improved speech understanding in noisy environments.

Speech Enhancer is an adaptive feature that enhances a soft speech signal in quiet situations. Hearing aid wearers experience reduced listening effort in quiet.
- Automatically activates when soft speech is detected
- Specifically, it targets soft and distant speech in quiet
Dynamic Noise Cancellation: This feature helps remove unwanted noises and reduces listening effort in background noise. The system works with Phonak’s adaptive beamformer and the motion sensor.
- Dynamic Noise Cancellation works with directional microphones to make it easier to hear in noise.
- Motion Sensor Hearing detects when the wearer is moving to optimise hearing in noise.
- SpeechSensor detects the primary speech source and automatically adjusts the microphone mode to ensure better access to speech from the sides and back.
Motion Sensor Hearing Detects if the user is stationary or moving and how noisy the surroundings are. AutoSense OS™ 6.0 automatically adjusts the hearing aid setting to ensure optional hearing.
StereoZoom 2.0 enables the hearing aid microphones to focus on speech from the front and is activated in noisy listening environments.
With SpeechSensor, users can hear from the back and the sides. This automatic feature detects the primary speech source and adjusts its microphone modes to ensure the client has more access to speech from the side and back.

Difference in Infinio Performance Levels
Phonak Audeo Infinio Hearing Aids are available in 4 technology levels:
- Premium – 90
- Advanced – 70
All the performance levels are the same size and use the ERA and DeepSonic chip. The difference is that the software loaded on the device, the Advanced 70 model, has no speech enhancer. The technology level you choose will depend on your hearing loss, lifestyle and budget.

Phonak Roger On Hearing Aid Accessory – Roger Direct Technology is built into Infinio. This means Infinio hearing aids can communicate directly with Roger’s suite of wireless microphones. Roger Microphones bridge the gap in hearing ability when background noise is present and where there is a distance from the speaker (more than 2m).
