Expert Advice
If the hearing aids are not in your ears, they should be in the charger. This avoids misplaced hearing aids by placing them loosely into pockets and bags.
Most commonly, people wear their hearing aids all day and then charge them overnight.
When the hearing aids are in the charger, they should flash red, orange, or green. Flashing red indicates a low battery, orange means approximately half battery life, and green means high battery life.
Solid green lights indicate that the hearing instruments are fully charged.
A solid red light indicates that the hearing instruments are not charging, and you should contact your hearing aid professional.
Technology inside Smile hearing aids
The new ERA Chip enables 552 million operations per second and has 74% more RAM than its predecessor.
The AI-trained Intergra OS (operating system) harnesses the power of the ERA chip to categorise sound into eight distinct listening environments. As the user transitions between these environments, the hearing aids automatically optimise their settings. This includes adjusting the volume and modifying the device’s advanced features to ensure an optimal listening experience.
AutoFocus 360 utilises the binaural network of the four hearing aid microphones to determine the direction of speech. Autofocus enhances this speech from any direction, applying dynamic noise reduction to improve the hearing experience with less fatigue.
AutoFocus works similarly to AutoFocus 360, although it is only capable of applying dynamic noise reduction to speech from the front.
HyperFocus is a feature located in one of Integra OS listening environments, Conservation in Loud noise. When activated automatically in loud noise with speech, HyperFocus directs the hearing aids’ four microphones to focus on the speech coming from the front, while reducing sounds from the sides and rear.
Dynamic Noise Reduction works with AutoFocus 360 to effectively minimise background noise interference during conversations, allowing for a clearer focus on speech coming from the front. This enhancement improves communication quality by prioritising the voices that matter most.
Unitron Smile Noise Reduction technology improves listening effort in background noise by detecting and then decreasing the gain in channels (frequencies) where noise in the dominant signal.
The Speech Enhancement feature can identify and enhance speech, whether in a low-complexity environment, such as a one-to-one conversation, or in a high-complexity climate with multiple speakers.
Soft Speech enhancement helps with quiet conversations, or perhaps you spend a lot of time with someone who has a calm voice. Smile hearing aids with soft speech can enhance speech clarity without amplifying background sounds, allowing you to hear speech more distinctly.
Pinna Effect 2 – With the hearing aid microphones positioned on top of your ear, Pinna Effect 2 utilises advanced technology to recreate a natural sound quality, as if the sound were coming directly into your ear canal.
AI Domes Proposer is a new feature available when your hearing care provider fits your Smile Hearing Aids, allowing for more accurate dome recommendations powered by AI models trained on thousands of successful fittings.
Universal Bluetooth Connectivity
Unitron Moxi S R hearing aids feature enhanced Bluetooth capabilities, allowing you to pair up to eight Bluetooth devices and connect to two simultaneously.
Stream audio directly from Android and Apple iOS.
The new ERA chip allows for uninterrupted hands-free calls and streaming at twice the distance of previous Unitron Bluetooth models.
Answer and end phone calls by pressing the hearing aid button or double-tapping the device.
Enhanced Wireless Power – The ERA chip enables more wireless transmission power so that you can enjoy improved streaming quality with fewer interruptions.
Which Unitron Smile Technology level is right for me?
All Unitron Moxi Smile hearing aids share the same robust physical properties, utilise the new ERA chip, are Bluetooth-enabled devices, and are compatible with Unitron accessories.
The difference between the technology levels is the features available to help hear speech in noisy environments. Essential and Standard technology will work well in everyday situations at home with some background noise. However, if you are often on the move with an ever-changing soundscape and exposed to loud noise environments, you will benefit from Advanced or Premium technology.
